The Summer ’13 release is upon us! Salesforce.com has just released an impressive set of enhancements. With over 250 pages of Release Notes, there are a significant number of new features and fixes that may help you.
Here is a sampling of some of the changes that could have the most impact on you and your business:
The Setup link — the change that might be most obvious for many users is that the Setup link, which used to be displayed after clicking on Your Name, now has a link of its own just to the right. On a related note, Personal Settings is now called My Settings.
The Setup menu — this page has been dramatically reorganized. Use the “Quick Find” box as you adjust to the new layout.
Price Books — you can customize fields, page layouts, record types, and more.
Forecasts — now can be done by Quantity, in addition to Revenue.
Opportunity Splits — when multiple people are working on an opportunity, you can now combine individual amounts into reports for the entire team.
Fine-Grained Sharing for Report and Dashboard Folders — prior to Summer ’13, it was nearly all-or-nothing. You can now assign Viewer, Editor or Manager access to a folder where the report or dashboard is stored.
Salesforce Communities — public or private branded spaces for your employees, customers and partners to connect. Please review the release notes carefully if you have on your roadmap to utilize the portal functionality within Salesforce.
