Feature Spotlight: myTrailhead In-App Walkthroughs

As part of the Summer ‘20 Release, Salesforce has announced the addition of In-App Walkthroughs to myTrailhead, as part of a broader initiative to make learning Salesforce skills easily accessible anytime, and anywhere. Now, organizations that rely on customized Lightning org configurations can set up click-through “learning tours” to drastically cut down on onboarding and training times for new users. This enables new users to guide themselves through your org’s unique processes and environment in real-time. After all, sometimes the best way to learn something is by doing it, and context is everything.

Walkthroughs can consist of up to 10 connected visual prompts, that act as a self-paced interactive “tour” for users across single or multiple pages for in-context learning. Purchasing a license will allow an org to have up to 500 separate walkthroughs.

These walkthroughs can be used to assist in:

  • Onboarding New Users and getting them acquainted with their new org
  • Highlighting key features and their usages
  • Providing a navigational or procedural overview of a new feature
  • Guiding users through complex, multi-step procedures

Admins with the “Modify All Data” or “Customize Application” user permissions can design and manage these customized walkthroughs. Or, for larger orgs with more specialized roles, your enablement specialists can be granted the Modify Metadata through Metadata API Functions and Manage Prompts user permissions to allow them the same functionality.
